Shift planning
Define it once. Let it repeat.
"Five days on, two days off" is a pattern. You enter it once and the monthly plan fills itself. On a night shift the rollover is read from the time range.
In short
A cyclic working arrangement is written once as a pattern and applied across the month. Each weekday can carry its own start and end time, break and grace period. On a night shift the day rollover follows from the shift's time range, so nothing is flagged by hand.
- Pattern
- A cyclic arrangement defined once, e.g. five on and two off
- Per weekday
- A separate start, end, break and grace period for each day
- Night shift
- Rollover read from the time range, not marked manually
- Exceptions
- The filled plan is not locked; correct any day individually

Define it once. Let it repeat.
40 people × 31 days = 1,240 cells.
You only correct the exceptions.

DAY 17 SWITCHED TO LEAVE: YOU HANDLE THE EXCEPTION
Night shift
Started 23:00, ended 07:00.
Which day does it count towards?
You enter the shift as 23:00–07:00 and the system works out the rollover from the time range. Nothing is flagged by hand.

The machine repeats. You handle the exception.
- The pattern repeats itself
Redrawing the plan monthly
The same cycle is typed out again every month, and a mistake slips in each time.
- Rollover from the time range
Night shifts across two days
A shift ending at 07:00 gets argued over every month.
- Defined per weekday
Different hours per weekday
A Saturday that starts later is forgotten in the spreadsheet.
- Corrected day by day
Leave and swaps
Someone changes shift and the plan no longer matches reality.
The pattern repeats, you do not.
Define the cycle once and the month fills itself. Your attention goes where it belongs: to the days that break the pattern.

Frequently asked questions
Shift planning questions.
If your question is not here, write to us directly — we usually reply within one business hour.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is a rotation pattern?
It is shorthand for a cyclic working arrangement. "Five on, two off" means five working days followed by two rest days. The pattern is defined once and the monthly plan fills itself.
Which day does a night shift count towards?
You define the shift as a time range, for example 23:00–07:00, and the system works out the rollover from that range. It is never flagged by hand.
Can the plan be changed after it is filled?
Yes. A filled plan is not locked; you correct the individual day where leave or a swap applies. The system handles the repetition, you handle the exception.
Can I set different hours for each weekday?
Yes. Every day of the week can have its own start and end time, break and grace period.
How is leave handled?
Public holidays sit in the holiday calendar with their coefficient, half days can be marked, and paid leave is flagged on the relevant day.
