Glossary

Rotation pattern. A cycle, once.

A rotation pattern is the short form of a cyclic working arrangement — for example five working days followed by two rest days, or two days on shift A, two on shift B and three off.

Why patterns exist

Most shift arrangements repeat. Writing the repetition out month after month creates work and invites mistakes. A pattern captures the cycle once so the calendar can be generated from it.

What a pattern defines

  • The sequence of working and rest days in one cycle.
  • Which shift applies on each working day of the cycle.
  • The point in the cycle each employee starts from.

The exception still belongs to you

A generated plan is not a locked plan. Leave, a swap or an unusual week is corrected on the individual day; the pattern continues around it.

In easyPDKS

In easyPDKS a pattern is defined once and applied across the month; the plan fills itself and any single day can still be corrected.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can different teams use different patterns?

Yes. Each group can carry its own pattern, and individuals can start at different points in the same cycle.

What happens when the month ends mid-cycle?

The cycle continues across the month boundary; it is not reset on the first of the month.
