Glossary

Attendance. What it means.

A time and attendance system records when employees start and finish work and calculates the timesheet from those records rather than from a sign-in sheet.

What it does

  • Records an arrival or departure at the moment it happens, with an identifier and a timestamp.
  • Compares that record against the shift the person was scheduled for.
  • Derives lateness, early leave, absence and hours worked from the comparison.
  • Produces a monthly summary that payroll can use.

Why it replaces a sheet of paper

A sign-in sheet records what someone wrote down. A time and attendance system records what happened, at the moment it happened, in a form nobody edits afterwards. The difference matters most at month end, when a disputed day has to be settled.

In easyPDKS

In easyPDKS the record is created at a site terminal with an NFC card, key fob or QR code, and management happens in a cloud panel opened in a browser.

Ask on WhatsApp
Is a time and attendance system the same as access control?

They overlap but are not identical. Access control decides whether a door opens; time and attendance records when someone started and finished work. The same terminal can serve both purposes.

Does it need to be connected to payroll software?

Not necessarily. easyPDKS exports the monthly timesheet as Excel (xlsx), which can be handed to accounting or imported into a payroll process.
