Glossary

Grace period. Lateness, set.

A grace period is the tolerance granted at the start of a shift, written in minutes. A clock-in inside the window is not counted as late; one outside it is.

Why it is written down

Without a defined tolerance, every late arrival is negotiated individually — and negotiated differently by different managers. A grace period moves the conversation from the person to the rule.

What it is not

A grace period is not permission to be late; it is an acknowledgement that clocks, traffic and queues exist. Set too wide it stops measuring anything; set to zero it generates noise rather than information.

In easyPDKS

In easyPDKS grace is part of the shift definition, so a morning shift and a night shift can carry different tolerances. Lateness can also be routed to Telegram, e-mail or SMS.

Ask on WhatsApp
Does a grace period apply at the end of the shift too?

Early leave is measured separately, against the shift's end time. The two are configured independently.

Can grace differ between shifts?

Yes. Because it is part of the shift definition, each shift can carry its own tolerance.
